Context


The event will gather policymakers from the European Parliament, Council and the European Commission, as well as scientific and civil society stakeholders to raise awareness of the animal welfare and environmental risks of octopus farming. It will include a discussion on how policymakers can act to prevent unsustainable aquaculture practices from emerging in the European Union, in line with the 2030 Strategic Guidelines for a more Sustainable and Competitive EU Aquaculture, and the European Ocean Pact objectives.
