EP - Youth on Track: Towards Better European Rail
Youth on Track: Towards Better European Rail
Tuesday 30 September 2025
12:00 – 14:00 CEST
European Parliament – Lunch Event
We, youth leaders, MEPs Lena Schilling (Greens/AT), Martine Kemp (EPP/LU), and Thomas Pellerin-Carlin (S&D/FR), together with civil society allies, invite you to this event. Together, we will set out a vision for greener, fairer, and more connected travel across Europe – and call on the EU to make it a reality.
Rail travel is on average seven times cleaner than flying in Europe. Yet the fragmented nature of rail networks and high ticket costs keep young travellers on planes instead. Young people across Europe are calling for a transport system that matches the urgency of the climate crisis, that is affordable and adapted to international travel. And now is the perfect moment to make a change.
As the EU prepares key legislative proposals on Single Ticketing, passenger rights, and VAT reform, youth organisations are coming together to ensure that the voices of the next generation shape the future of European rail. Their message is clear: a seamless, affordable, and climate-friendly rail system is essential for the Europe of tomorrow.
This event will bring youth organisations, supported by environmental and consumer groups, to the European Parliament to present their views on how to make the backbone of sustainable European mobility – putting the needs of young travelers and future generations at the heart of EU transport policy.
