About the Event

Europe's security landscape is evolving rapidly, with emerging threats requiring technological advances to address them. One area of particular importance is Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS, more commonly known as drones), which have an incredible potential to strengthen Europe's defence capabilities by providing reconnaissance, logistics support, and being pivotal for electronic warfare. However, Europe is not alone in recognising their potential, and therefore it is equally important that effective anti-drone systems are integrated into Europe's defence plans to secure our airspaces.

In the interest of maximising the potential for UAS and anti-drone systems to boost Europe's readiness, this high-level policy discussion will bring together policymakers and industry stakeholders to discuss on-going and future EU defence projects. Together, they will plot a course for how to support Europe's technological and manufacturing leaders, so that they may have the legislative landscape and sufficiently strong funding required to meet Europe's defence needs. This exchange is an essential step to ensuring that the EU-level policies accurately reflect the capabilities and potential of defence actors already operating in the field.

This event will provide in-depth understanding of the current state of Europe's legislation surrounding UAS, while also shedding light on the needs and potential of the actors expected to make these policies a reality.
