EFF Event - The Omnibus Package and the Food Sector

The Impact of Simplification of Sustainability Rules

The European Union's legislative simplification efforts, led by President Von der Leyen, aim to consolidate and streamline sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) regulations, reducing regulatory burdens on businesses, especially SMEs.

On February 26, European Commissioner Dombrovskis presented proposals impacting the food sector, focusing on ESG reporting and due diligence requirements under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence (CS3D) Directive.

This event will analyze the pros and cons of the Omnibus Initiative’s simplification proposals, assessing their impact on the food sector, civil society, and EU citizens.
