Co-hosted by MEPs Stephanie Yon-Courtin (Renew, FR) and Christel Schaldemose (S&D, DK), in the context of the upcoming IMCO own-initiative report on this topic.

Tuesday, 24 June 2025
17:30 – 19:00
MEP Salon, European Parliament
Followed by a cocktail reception

This event will bring together key institutional and national voices—including from France, Denmark, European Commission and Germany, while also creating space for dialogue with stakeholders. As the protection of minors online is one of the defining challenges of our generation, it must be addressed swiftly and at the European level.

The event will provide an opportunity to explore concrete ways to enhance online safety for minors in the EU, from effective age verification and the concept of digital majority to tackling addictive platform design and screen addiction.

With the participation of :

  • · Clara Chappaz, French Minister for AI and Digital Affairs
  • · Commissioner Michael McGrath, responsible for democracy, justice, the rule of law and consumer protection (tbc)
  • · Caroline Stage, Danish Minister for Digitalisation (tbc)
  • · Prabhat Agarwal, Head of Unit "Digital Services and Platforms", DG CNECT (tbc)

The second part of the event will feature a Q&A session during which stakeholders will have the opportunity to pose questions directly to the ministers.

Insights and contributions will be essential in shaping upcoming EU legislative developments, including the 2026 Digital Fairness Act.
