EP - Launch of FTI Study on Demand-Side Flexibility & Grid Efficiency
Smart Grids: Unlocking Cost-Reflective Network Charges
19 March 2025 | 14:30 - 16:00
European Parliament, Room ASP 5E1
Organiser: smartEn – Smart Energy Europe, representing over 100 companies offering smart solutions for flexible energy consumption.
Hosting MEP: Benedetta Scuderi, Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance
Description
Since 2019, the principle of cost-reflective network charges has been enshrined in EU law but largely overlooked. smartEn collaborated with FTI Consulting to explore tariff design options and quantify their benefits.
Implementing these charges allows system operators to enhance grid efficiency, reduce costs, and integrate flexible consumers.
This event coincides with the European Parliament’s INI report launch, ensuring discussions build on its momentum.
