EP - Breakfast Event on Geographic Atrophy

The registration deadline has expired.

Breakfast Discussion at the European Parliament

Hosted by MEP Pascal Arimont (EPP)

Members Salon | 25 March 2025 | 08:00 - 09:30

The event focuses on the unmet needs of visually impaired patients and the burden of illness caused by geographic atrophy (GA).

Geographic Atrophy is a progressive and irreversible condition leading to severe vision loss, impacting patients' independence and quality of life. Despite research advances, there are currently no approved treatments for GA in the EU, highlighting a critical gap in care.

This event brings together healthcare experts, patient representatives, and advocacy groups to raise awareness, discuss policy gaps, and explore solutions for better treatment access and patient support. Additionally, it provides an opportunity to understand how policy can be shaped to support these initiatives.

A key outcome of the discussion will be the presentation and signing of a Consensus Statement, urging greater prioritization of GA in healthcare policies, enhanced research efforts, and improved access to future treatments.
