About the Event
This event marks the dark anniversary of the Turkish illegal unilateral declaration made in the occupied northern part of Cyprus. In 1983, under its military administration in the occupied areas, Turkey attempted to proclaim a secessionist entity, a move immediately condemned by the UN Security Council and never recognised by any state other than Turkey.
At a time when certain narratives, including Turkish propaganda voices within the Parliament, attempt to influence the debate and normalise this illegal secessionist construct, your presence is especially important.
The panel will feature several Members of the European Parliament, to show that European values, international law, and solidarity prevail over any attempts to recognise the consequences of the Turkish invasion.
Interpretation will be available in EN, FR, IT, EL, ES, PL, and BG.
